Before He Lifted Me, He Loved Me

Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Psalm 103:1-5 (NKJV)

1 - Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

2 - Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:

3 - Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,

4 - Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

5 - Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Most people believe God starts loving them after they start doing better.

After they pray more.

After they stop failing.

After they become "good enough."

But what if God's love never waited for your improvement?

What if His decision to lift you was made long before you ever fell?

One of the greatest misconceptions about God is that His love is earned.

Scripture tells a different story.

God did not wait until humanity became righteous before sending Christ. He acted while we were still broken, rebellious, and unable to rescue ourselves.

That means God's love is not a reward for good behavior.

It is the reason transformation is possible.

Many people think God lifts only those who deserve it.

But throughout Scripture, He repeatedly lifted people who could not lift themselves.

He lifted Noah from judgment.

He lifted Joseph from a prison.

He lifted Hannah from disgrace.

He lifted David from the wilderness.

He lifted Peter after denial.

He lifts because it is His nature to restore.

God's lifting is not driven by your perfection.

It flows from His compassion.

Many people spend years trying to earn what God has already offered.

They serve out of fear.

Pray out of guilt.

Work to prove their worth.

They are exhausted not because God demanded it, but because they misunderstand His heart.

The greatest burden some people carry isn't failure.

It's the belief that God is disappointed in them every single day.

Everything changes the moment you stop seeing God as Someone you must impress and start seeing Him as a Father who delights in restoring His children.

God doesn't lift you because you've climbed high enough.

He lifts you because His love reaches low enough.

 

If God loved me before I changed, why do I still believe I must earn His acceptance?

Father, thank You for loving me before I ever deserved it. Break every mindset that tells me Your love must be earned. Help me rest in the security of Your grace and respond to Your love with wholehearted obedience. Lift my heart out of striving and into the joy of being Your child. In Jesus' name, Amen

God didn't begin loving you when you started seeking Him. You began seeking Him because He first loved you.
