Praise with a Lifted Head

Psalm 3:3-4 (NKJV)

But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill.Selah

Psalm 103:1-5

It is easy to praise God when life makes sense.

But what happens when the battle is still raging?

When the answers haven't come?

When your heart is heavy but your mouth still chooses worship?

True praise is not born after the victory. It is often born in the middle of the battle.

Psalm 3 was not written after David escaped trouble.

It was written while he was running for his life from his own son, Absalom.

Everything around David gave him a reason to hang his head. Yet he chose to lift his voice before God lifted his circumstances.

Thanksgiving is not pretending that pain doesn't exist.

It is recognizing that God's faithfulness is greater than your present struggle.

Praise shifts your attention from what is happening around you to Who is walking with you through it.

Sometimes the first way God lifts your head is by reminding you of all the times He has never let you down.

Many of us keep waiting for the breakthrough before we become thankful.

"I'll praise God when I get the job."

"I'll thank Him when the healing comes."

"I'll rejoice when the family is restored."

But gratitude has never depended on perfect circumstances.

When you intentionally remember God's past faithfulness, your present burden begins to lose its power over your heart.

A thankful heart sees what a discouraged heart overlooks.

Praise changes the direction of your focus.

Instead of staring at your problems, you begin to remember God's promises.

Instead of magnifying your fears, you magnify His faithfulness.

Your circumstances may not change overnight, but your perspective can change in a moment.

And often, a changed perspective becomes the doorway to renewed strength.

If God has been faithful to me before...

Why do I find it easier to remember my problems than to remember His goodness?

Father, thank You for every unseen battle You have fought for me and every blessing I have taken for granted. Forgive me for allowing my challenges to become louder than my gratitude. Today, I choose to remember Your faithfulness. Lift my heart through worship and help me praise You, not just for what You will do, but for who You have always been. In Jesus' name, Amen

Gratitude lifts your eyes before God lifts your circumstances.
