What if the goal isn't for people to notice you?

What if the goal is for them to notice something through you?

We naturally want recognition.

We want our work noticed.

Our sacrifices acknowledged.

Our names remembered.

But there is a higher level of living:

When your life becomes a window through which people can see God.

Jesus said, “Let your light so shine…”

Notice the purpose:

“That they may… glorify your Father.”

The light is visible, but the glory belongs to God.

That is the beauty of a life surrendered to Him.

God's beauty upon you should not terminate in you.

It should point beyond you.

Your kindness can make someone believe goodness still exists.

Your integrity can restore someone's faith in honesty.

Your compassion can make someone experience God's love.

Your excellence can reveal the God you serve.

The question is not simply:

“Can people see me?”

It is:

“When people see me, can they see something of Him?”

You don't need a pulpit to reveal God.

You can reveal Him in the office.

At home.

In traffic.

In business.

In conversation.

In how you treat people who cannot benefit you.

In how you respond to someone who has offended you.

In what you do when nobody is watching.

Sometimes your greatest sermon isn't something you say.

It's something people experience when they encounter you.

Here is the SHIFT:

Stop living merely to make an impression.

Start living to make an expression.

An expression of His love.

His integrity.

His grace.

His compassion.

His excellence.

His beauty.

The highest compliment your life can receive is not:

“What an impressive person.”

But:

“There is something about this person's life that makes me think of God.”

Carry the LIGHT:

⁠When people encounter me, are they mainly impressed by me or are they being pointed toward the God I claim to carry?

Lord, let my life point to You.

Remove the desire to live only for recognition and applause.

Let my words carry grace.

Let my actions carry integrity.

Let my relationships carry love.

Let my work carry excellence.

Let my responses reveal Your character.

May the beauty You place upon me never become a reason to glorify myself.

Let them see something of You through me.

Amen.

The highest expression of God's beauty upon your life is when people encounter you and catch a glimpse of Him.
