Focus: Learning to trust God's power and protection when you become the target of attacks, opposition, and circumstances threatening your peace, progress, or purpose.

October 11, 2026 | Day 284
---
Have you noticed how quickly we remember what went wrong but forget what God has done right?
One disappointment can occupy our thoughts for days, while the testimonies of God's faithfulness gradually fade from our memory.
We remember the battles we are fighting but forget the dangers we escaped, the prayers God answered, and the times He came through for us.
Before you focus on the battle ahead, have you taken time to thank God for bringing you this far?
David declares in verse 1:
"I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Notice his words: “at all times.”
David did not say he would praise God only when everything was working perfectly. His commitment to praise was not dependent on favourable circumstances.
In verse 4, he reveals something personal:
"I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
David remembered what God had done. He sought the Lord, God heard him, and he experienced deliverance.
This is powerful: praise becomes deeper when you remember the faithfulness behind your testimony.
As we enter another week of warfare, we must not become so occupied with the battles ahead that we forget the God who has brought us through previous ones.
Thanksgiving is not pretending that nothing is wrong; it is remembering that God has not been absent from your story.
Perhaps you are praying for financial breakthrough while forgetting the times God provided when you had little.
Perhaps you are troubled by a family situation while forgetting the dangers you escaped.
Perhaps your progress seems slow, and you have overlooked how far you have already come.
The problem is not always that God has stopped doing good things. Sometimes, our attention is so occupied by what remains undone that we fail to appreciate what has already been done.
Today, before asking God to fight another battle, take time to thank Him for the ones He has brought you through.
HERE IS THE SHIFT:
Gratitude does not cancel your requests. It reminds you that your relationship with God is bigger than your present needs.
You can ask Him for tomorrow's victory while thanking Him for yesterday's deliverance.
CARRY THE LIGHT:
If someone asked you to name three things God has done for you recently, could you answer without struggling to remember?
"Never let the battles ahead make you forget the God who brought you this far."
