Focus: Trusting God to intervene in battles beyond our strength, and answering with faith, wisdom, and obedience.
OCTOBER 22, 2026 | DAY 295
–––
Have you ever wished you could watch someone who hurt you finally face the consequences?
You want them to understand your pain. You want the truth exposed and those who misunderstood you to learn what really happened.
Wanting justice is understandable. But sometimes that desire shifts into wanting the other person to suffer. Then the wound begins to control more than your memories: it starts to control your peace.
Paul calls believers away from personal vengeance and towards leaving judgment to God.
This is more than an instruction to be nice to difficult people. It warns us not to let evil shape the way we respond. Someone may wrong you, but the urge to punish them can begin shaping your own conduct.
Releasing vengeance does not mean denying justice. It does not mean staying in danger, concealing abuse, or giving up lawful remedies. It means refusing to make personal retaliation your mission.
You can pursue justice without surrendering your character to the injustice you suffered.
Perhaps someone betrayed your trust, cheated you in business, or damaged your reputation. You may need to confront the issue, preserve evidence, seek professional advice, or use legal channels. Those steps may be necessary.
But imagining their downfall every day will not repair what happened. You can protect your interests while loosening revenge’s grip on your heart.
Forgiveness may take time. Trust may need rebuilding or may not be wise to restore. Boundaries may still be necessary. You can pursue what is right without making hatred your companion.
HERE IS THE SHIFT:
You do not have to become someone’s punisher to prove they did wrong.
CARRY THE LIGHT:
Is your desire for justice consuming your peace or pushing you towards retaliation?
Father, You know the wrongs I have suffered and the pain I still carry. Give me courage to seek justice when necessary and wisdom to protect myself. Deliver me from bitterness and retaliation. Help me release personal vengeance without denying the truth. Let me resist evil without reproducing it in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
"You do not have to deliver the punishment to prove the wrong was real.
